Tracking Expenses

[!abstract] What You'll Learn Use transaction filters, record transfers, set up recurring transactions, and view your yearly summary.


Filter Transactions

  1. Go to the Transactions tab and pick a month/year.
  2. Expand the filter panel to narrow by type (Income/Expense/Transfer), category, or account.
  3. Filters also apply to the Dashboard and Summary tabs when set.

Record a Transfer

Transfers move money between your accounts (no category needed).

  1. Click Add Transaction (+), then select Transfer.
  2. Pick the amount, date, from and to accounts, and optional description.
  3. The source and target accounts must differ.

[!tip] Transfer tracking Transfers appear in the Transactions tab but not in the Dashboard income/expense breakdown.


Set Up Recurring Transactions

For regular bills or income (rent, salary, subscriptions):

  1. Go to the Recurring tab and click Add Recurring (+).
  2. Fill in the details:
Field Description
Name Max 100 characters
Amount Positive amount
Type Income or Expense (no transfers)
Frequency Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly
Schedule Day of week, day of month, or month + day
Start Date When it begins
End Date Optional — leave blank if ongoing
Category Which category
Account Which account

[!tip] Monthly schedules For monthly frequency, you can choose a specific day (1-31) or toggle Use Last Day of Month for invoices paid at month-end.

Managing Recurring Transactions

  • Toggle to enable/disable without deleting.
  • Edit or Delete via the icons on each row.

View the Yearly Summary

  1. Go to the Summary tab.
  2. Select a year using the navigation arrows.
  3. The table shows all 12 months with Income | Expenses | Balance columns.
  4. The footer row gives you the yearly totals.

Optionally, filter by category, account, or toggle Include Transfers for a complete picture.

[!tip] Color-coded balances Positive balances are shown in green, negative in red, so you can spot trends at a glance.


Manage Transactions

Use the icons on any transaction row: Edit to modify, Copy to duplicate (great for similar entries), Delete to remove.
