Your First Marker¶
[!abstract] What You'll Learn Add a location to the map, fill in details, upload photos, and view your marker.
Step 1: Open the Map¶
Go to the Map page (see Getting Started for Hub navigation).
[!tip] Finding yourself Use the location search bar at the top of the map to find a specific place by name.
Step 2: Create a New Marker¶
There are two ways to start:
Click on the Map¶
- Click any location on the map. A marker creation form opens.
Use the Search Bar¶
- Type a location name in the search bar.
- Click the add-location icon next to the result.
- The form opens with the coordinates pre-filled.
Step 3: Fill In the Details¶

[!tip] Rich text descriptions Use the built-in editor to add bold text, lists, or headings to your description.
Step 4: Add Photos¶
- Click the image upload area in the form.
- Select one or more photos from your device.
- Photos are compressed and uploaded directly to storage — see File Storage for the full flow.
- Drag thumbnails to reorder images.
[!note] Image limits You can add up to 5 images per marker.
Step 5: Save Your Marker¶
Submit the form. The marker appears on the map as a unicorn icon and the detail modal opens automatically.
Step 6: View Your Marker¶
Click any marker to open its detail modal (title, date, rating, description, image carousel, and action buttons). Markers also appear in the sidebar — a scrollable list sorted by date.
